The overall application rate for 3-room and larger flats in Nov 2022 BTO launch is similar to Sep 2019. This is probably due to the largest number of BTO units launched which pulled down the overall application rate.

The most popular BTO launches are Kallang/Whampoa, Queenstown and Tengah. The location of Kallang/Whampoa and Queenstown is probably the biggest draw for applicants. Proximity to MRT stations and amenities are what make the mature estates stand out. Unfortunately, HDB has lumped both PLH and BTO launches in Queenstown together thus a comparison with past PLH launches in Queenstown is not possible. Tengah has consistently attracted many applicants for its sustainability theme and proximity to major employment centres in Jurong East Regional Centre and Jurong Innovation District. The first EC launch in Tengah Copen was sold out just a month after its launch.
Buyers were looking for larger units since the pandemic. The larger size gives them more flexibility to design their flat to accommodate both hybrid work and home-based learning.
